Orange Show Speedway and BSR West partner to make 2008 Super Late Model Division one for the ages

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (March 26, 2008) – Many drivers who’ve raced at Orange Show Speedway over the years have done so with nothing more than a desire to compete in the sport they love. Sponsorship for many teams only helps make race-day costs like fuel, tires and admission affordable. BSR West President Harold Nicks sees many levels of racers come thru the doors of his performance racing parts shop. He has supported many levels and tracks. Today OSS and BSR West announced their own ‘pot of gold’ at the end of the rainbow for drivers competing in the points championship for the BSR West Super Late Models at Orange Show Speedway in 2008. At the 2008 Awards Dinner, Harold Nicks will be presenting the Super Late Model Champion a check for an additional $5,000.00 (Five Thousand) in addition to normal ASA and Orange Show Speedway points fund awards. Harold felt, along with the announcement by ASA of a National Short Track Championship, was his chance to highlight the dedication so many families have made over the years;

“This sport has provided so much for myself and my family. I see racers walk in the doors at BSR West before they leave for work, on their lunch, or even after work. We provide the highest quality of performance parts to what I know is some of the highest quality of people I know. Their dedication to the sport is unmatched.”

“Orange Show Speedway has more momentum than any other track around. They treat everyone with respect and I am glad we can support their efforts to take care of the local racers, local fans and local businesses, like ourselves, who work within this sport on a regular basis.”

Parker Pumper / BSR West is the leading supplier of performance racing technology and parts in the region. Parker Pumper is dedicated to providing racers in every form of auto racing, with the highest quality components. They stock parts and accessories from top manufactures of performance engine, chassis, hardware and maintenance products. BSR West is title sponsor to the Super Late Model division competing at OSS and the division representing in the chase for the ASA Short Track National Championship.

Joe Ganino, Director of Motorsports for Orange Show Speedway, sees this as just the beginning of many opportunities for drivers and divisions that race here at the historic ¼ mile high-banked oval;

“To say we are excited about today’s announcement would be a bit of an understatement. It is a great compliment to have someone within the racing industry like Harold and everyone at BSR West step up to the plate the way they have over the last two years. The Speedway’s desire has been to return to exactly what we are…a track that celebrates our great sport, our great fans and all the families. This kind of support affirms that we are doing this the correct way.”

In other news at OSS, Saturday, March 29th will mark the first of three pre season open practice sessions. Prior to that, OSS staff of officials along with numerous drivers, teams and families have been participating in ‘Clean Up’ days that has resulted in the painting of the entire bleacher areas, new roofing over the scale areas over tech, the repainting of the tech shack and registration area. Families and teams that participated were thanked with complimentary barbeque and single car practice for all drivers who brought along their racecars. Gary Stockman, OSS Director of Competition, has enjoyed the enthusiasm from the drivers to make things better;

“This track is as much the drivers as anyone else’s. All this couldn’t have been done without the efforts from the families like the Huizenga, Secord, and Mahan, the staff and these great men and women who make up our officials. This is a special place and these are special people. The facility looks better and better everyday, and wouldn’t be possible without the help from all the drivers and families who’ve participated in the ‘clean up’ days. This is everyone’s track and we all are proud of the progress we’re making.”

The upcoming open practices will give our drivers and officials plenty of opportunities to fill out any necessary paperwork, Submit their ASA Memberships or have vehicles inspected for safety and rules compliance. With Opening Day on April 19th, OSS will hold three open practices prior to opening night for any of the divisions participating at OSS.
