Emotional weekend and Championship opportunities apart of Orange Show Speedway weekend.
SAN BERNARDINO (May 15, 2008)– Saturday marks the Robertson’s Ready Mix Night out at the historic ¼ mile oval. One of the regions larger employers, Robertson’s not only uses the evening as an employee night and partners with OSS to turn the evening into a fund raiser to raise much needed funds for the Ronald McDonald House of Loma Linda. Joe Ganino, Director of Motorsports, has included multiple nights in the 2008 Calendar to support local fundraising and applauds the efforts;
“We salute the efforts of Robertsons Ready Mix, and are glad to welcome them to the speedway and to partner with them to help families and children in need. We hope fans come out, enjoy and great night of racing and help us raise funds and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House of Loma Linda.”
Robertsons has created a special T-shirt commemorating the evening and will accept donations in exchange with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House.
Earlier this week, Ganino and the Director of Competition, Gary Stockman, put together the most comprehensive Legends schedule ever on the West Coast. Because of the reduction in tracks in the West over the last few years, drivers competing in the INEX national series were content to challenge for a State Championship. National Points Championships seemed out of reach mainly due to the sheer number of races necessary to qualify. That obstacle no longer exists, thanks in part to all the efforts at OSS and Darrel Krentz at INEX. The addition of a full compliment of national points races on Fridays and additional races throughout the year now will give drivers in the West the same championship opportunities. Word of the changes has spread, to which Orange Show Speedway has already seen drivers make their way to the speedway from as far away as Cedar Lakes, Indiana and North Carolina.
Earlier in the year, ASA President Dennis Huth made the announcement that the feature division at all ASA sanctioned tracks will compete, in addition to track championships, in the first ever short track national championship.
